Dermaroller Applications

Dermaroller is a medical roller with hundreds of micro-skin needles arranged around it. As the Dermaroller is passed across the skin it causes small micro punctures in the skin surface that stimulates the skin to regenerate and repair itself naturally and safely. A controlled trauma is caused to induce a healing process and create a smoother, brighter, healthier, younger looking-skin. This controlled damage is not deep enough to elicit a scarring response however it will cause a healing response. The nearby tissue is broken down and new elastin and collagen are formed. This way scarring, lines, wrinkles and pigmentation are gently removed, replaced over time with a new scar free skin. The Doctor is able to control the depth of penetration of the needles to achieve the best result. Needles can go as deep as 1.5mm on the face and 3mm on the body. This depends on the clients condition and the objective of the treatment. Superficial Micro needling that works on the Epidermis can be performed by our trained therapists, this more gentle approach is for clients that just want to refresh the appearance of the skin and present very mild scarring. Deeper micro needling is performed by our Dermatologist. There are several alternative treatments that can achieve the same results such as Fractional Laser, Resurfacing Laser, Deep Chemical Peeling, however all this procedures are associated with unwanted side effects and tend to be more aggressive, are advised for extreme cases whereas derma roller treatments wouldn’t result in the best outcome possible. It is a fairly straight forward treatment, with minimal downtime.

What To Expect

The treatment is relatively pain free, an anesthetic cream is applied to reduce any discomfort that may be caused. We recommend a course of three to four treatments approximately six weeks apart to allow recovery of the skin that is already compromised. The Dermaroller treatment takes 30 minutes. The side effects are minimal, the area treated may look red, similar to moderate sunburn. This usually settles within a few hours, for clients with sensitive skin may take longer to recover. During the recovery period clients can apply mineral make up.

Who Is Suitable For The Treatment

Women and Men that aim to improve the skin texture and improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage. Also Clients that have acne scars, burn scars and stretch marks. Skin that has suffered damage and needs stimulation. Not suitable for:

Clients with active acne, it can induce break outs and spread bacteria;

Heavy smokers, smoking enables recovery and compromises the healing processes;

Pregnancy, the immune system is compromised and all invasive treatments are not recommended.

Clients with auto-immune diseases, recovery might be compromised.

Areas To Be Treated

Dermaroller can be used on any part of the body. The most common area is the face for acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles and hyperpigmentation. It can also be used to treat lines and wrinkles on the neck, décolletage, back of the hands and areas with stretch marks.

Results

After the treatment the Practitioner applies a barrier repair cream to encourage the repair of the skin. An antibacterial ointment is also applied to avoid infection. Clients should avoid Sun exposure as skin has been treated, is sensitive and prone to pigmentation. Clients must wear ZIncSPF30 at all times and reapply several times a day. It can take up to six weeks before visible signs of regeneration and repair are seen and the process will continue over the following months. The healing time and results depend on ability to recover and it is different for everyone. The results achieved are permanent, repaired skin does not revert. For the treatment of lines and wrinkles, the ageing processes continue and new line will form.

Recommended Treatments

Microdermabrasion: light cosmetic procedure that uses a mechanical medium for exfoliation to gently remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells from the epidermis. Smooth’s the skin before the dermaroller procedure and increases healing ability. Ideal before and after the course of treamentt to maintain healthy skin.

Mild Glycolic Acid Peel: a gentle Glycolic acid that helps improve skin brightness and texture, advised for clients prone to pigmentation. Can be done before and after the treatments.

Homecare: Cleanse the skin with a gentle glycolic cleanser, hydrate with an active anti-aging ingredient Vitamin A and Vitamin C a powerful antioxidant. Zinc SPF 30 to protect the skin from UV Rays.

Healthy Tips:

A healthy life approach that helps combat the aging processes and the signs of aging.

Always use SPF30, avoid sun exposure between 11am – 16:00Pm, where the UVA incidence levels are high and cause skin aging.

Exercise regularly, physical activity boosts self-esteem, mood, sleep quality and energy, reducing the risk of stress and depression. Increases blood oxygenation and healing processes.

Healthy and balanced diet, try to eat your 5 a day, 5 portions of fruit and vegetables. This simple step lowers the risk of serious health problems: heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and obesity.

Muscle Relaxing Injections

muscle1

With the normal aging processes moderate to severe wrinkles become noticeable and can cause some distress. Millions of people choose non-invasive, effective ways to diminish the appearance of wrinkles and learn how to manage the aging process adequately. Muscle relaxing injections use a prescription medicine that is injected into the muscle blocking the nerve impulses, which results in temporarily relaxing the facial muscles by reducing muscle activity. Wrinkles may develop as either hyperdynamic lines caused by the repetitive movement of underlying facial musculature over the years or as a redundant skin which develops as the skin progressively loses its elasticity and submits to the relentless pull of gravity. These lines ultimately remain as wrinkles at rest. Hyperdynamic wrinkles are more prominent where the underlying muscles and fascia have more direct attachements to the skin, such as in the frontal, glabellar, periocullar, nasolabial and perioral areas. The success of this treatment is due to not only softening the existing lines but as well as preventing the formation of new wrinkles.

Treatment

Treatments are carried by a registered Dermatologist. The treatment involves a few tiny injections into the muscles that cause the visible lines, and sessions are brief, 10 to 20 minutes. In order to isolate the areas to be injected your treatment will be carried out in a sitting position. Immediately after the injection there may be mild swelling that usually subsides within 24 hours. The application of ice for a few minutes after the treatment will help to reduce the possible swelling. We advise you to use the injected muscles after the treatment to help speed up the onset effect.

The treatment is non- invasive with virtually no recovery time necessary. You my resume to your normal activities immediately after treatment. Usually no anesthesia is required, however the doctor may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or an anesthetic cream.

Results

Within a few days you may see an improvement in the degree of the lines. Lines continue to improve for up to 14 days. Top up treatments are usually not necessary however if the client needs further injections, this can only be done up to 14 days after the treatment and have an additional fixed cost. The doctor injects the sufficient amount to treat the wrinkle during the treatment and cannot predict if results are 100% as this varies for every individual. Results can last up to 5 months, you can have another treatment done by then. Although the results of the treatment are visible, this will not radically change your facial appearance nor it should and you may continue to have the normal facial expressions but without the visible lines.

Dermal Fillers

Aging

The dermis layer is right below the epidermis and constitutes the skin’s structural elements, such as nerves, hair follicles and blood vessels. The growth of cells and blood vessels is enhanced through a framework provided by a network of fibres that is formed by protein. The major component of the dermis is collagen which gives the skin its firm elasticity and strength, offering fundamental support to the skin. As one grows old the ageing process causes the upper layer (the epidermis) to gradually become thin and provides less protection to the dermis layer. In addition, collagen production in the body slows down considerably as the existing collagen becomes ineffective. This then causes wrinkles, folds, depressions and other forms of skin abnormalities associated with old age. It is at this point that dermal fillers become necessary to reduce the consequences of the deteriorating epidermis and weakened collagen. Dermal fillers technically work as replenishment for the natural collagen which has been rendered less effective by the ageing process. They work as collagen and, depending on the quality of the system used, impressive results can be achieved.

The general working principle is similar for all dermal fillers, but may vary slightly from one type to another. Dermal fillers are usually designed to treat one area specifically, such as the lips. Often, various dermal fillers are marketed under a similar name with each treating a different area of the body, or providing a different level of treatment.

Hyaluronic acid fillers are widely used in the United Kingdom due to their high levels of safety and reliability. It is a natural substance which can be found in every living organism. As a result it is biocompatible and side-effects are very rare.Products which use hyaluronic acid include Perlane, Restylane, Belotero, Teosyal and Juvéderm. Hyaluronic acid fillers come in varying levels of thickness and so they are a flexible option to improve different sections of the face. Thinner fillers are more suitable for wrinkles and fine lines, or enrichment of the lips, while thicker fillers are able to address very deep wrinkles and volume loss, lasting between six and twelve months.

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers, also known as “injectables” or “soft-tissue fillers,” do just what their name suggests: they fill in the area under the skin. Some fillers are natural and some are synthetic, but they all work to improve the appearance of aging skin in the following ways. Hyaluronic acid) is a common ingredient in injectable filler. Hyaluronic acid fillers have become popular soft tissue filler augmentation agents over the past several years. They have helped revolutionize the filler market with a number of new products available for use for patients. The fundamental working principle of dermal fillers is that they have a ‘plumping’ effect. This simply implies that they will plump-up the area which has received the injection, levelling it with other parts of the skin and making it look plumped out, even and no longer sunken. Ultimately, different fillers may achieve this goal in slightly different ways, but the result is that the skin will look plump and firm, young and refreshed.

Fillers can be used for the following treatments:

• filling in wrinkles, fine lines and deep creases
• improving other imperfections like scars
• filling out thin or wrinkled lips
• plumping up cheeks
• contouring the jaw line and other areas of the face
• Dermal fillers are frequently used in the correction of scarring, wrinkles and other depressions in the skin. They are a form of hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the body, and can be injected into the skin to improve aesthetics. They are generally made of several types of synthetic, man-made and natural collagens. For anyone suffering from problems such as wrinkles, folds or depressions in the skin, dermal fillers may be the best solution to improve appearance. The procedure is quick, often taking just 30 minutes or less to complete, and many people experience no pain at all and minimum side-effects.

• Restylane : Produced by Galderma, originally invented by Q-Med. Restylane is a dermal filler that can be used to restore volume and fullness to skin, significantly reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Restylane can be applied around the nose, lips and wrinkles.[3]
• Juvéderm : Produced by Allergan. Juvéderm is an injectable filler which is approved by U.S. Food and Drug Administration. It is produced by Allergan.

What To Expect

The treatment is done by a Consultant Dermatologist.

The treatment is successful by taking advantage of the basic roles and functions of the skin, which can also help in fully understanding the procedure. The human skin is made up of two layers, namely the epidermis and the dermis. The outermost layer is the epidermis and its main function is to serve as protection against the effects of the environment and other components. It controls water loss from tissues and cells, thus serving as a barrier to the outside environment.

Before having dermal filler treatment you will need to visit a practitioner to guide you through the process of selecting the best dermal filler for your skin. This is also a great opportunity to discuss the results you would like to achieve.

Consent is also signed before undergoing treatment to ensure the patient understands possible effects. The initial treatment can often take place during the first visit, when the filler recommended fits the skin requirement based on the doctor’s test. Treatments involving wrinkles and lines often require anaesthetic cream, which is applied around twenty minutes prior to having treatment. The function of the cream is to help numb the area for treatment and reduce pain when the injection is used. Depending on the type of filler and the area undergoing treatment, different types of injection will be used. In the treatment of filling out wrinkles there are two injection techniques that can be used: the linear threading technique and the serial puncture technique.

The effect lasts for about six months or longer. Successful results depend on health of the skin, skill of the doctor, type of filler used.

Possible Side Effects

The most common side-effects include bruising, bleeding, itching, skin discoloration, viral infection, bacterial infection, redness and swelling at the region of injection, allergic reactions, lumps under the skin and skin ulceration in the injected area. The important point to note is that most of these effects are expected when going through dermal treatment, and that they will disappear within a period of two to three days. If they persist then it becomes necessary to check with a qualified medical person to ensure everything is normal and there is no problem.
