What treatments can you do with Mesotherm?

The mesotherm device works through the separate or simultaneous use of different technologies:

• Microdermabrasion with low level laser

• Removal of the stratum corneum to stimulate the production of new cells in the basal layers of the skin.

• Heating of the dermis through Radiofrequency and micro needling

• Electroporation- mesotherapic cocktails channelled in the skin trough electroporation technique ensuring a deep subcutaneous penetration of active ingredients sensitive to electro conduction, resulting in injection free mesotherapy.

• Vacuum that delivers all the above technologies effectively.

This combined technologies enables treating:

• Fine lines and wrinkles

• Skin tightening and firming

• Face and Neck

• Skin laxity

• Pigmentation

• Stretch marks

The skin is constantly exposed to the effect of external agents and therefore its structure is at risk of oxidation stress. This can reduce its defence systems and speed up the ageing process. The skin has its lifecycle and the subsequent replacement with new cells. During the remodelling process the damaged proteins are removed and replaced by new proteins, this proteins accumulate the damage caused by various factors, especially sunlight. Sun exposure is the number one factor that causes ageing of the skin. After 25 years old the sebum production starts to decrease as well as the collagen and elastin fibre. Skin ageing is caused by genetic factors and metabolic processes, accompanied by hormonal changes which occur over time and gradually cause the atrophy of the dermis, the hypoderm and the supporting structures which the force of gravity is constantly working against. To stop the aging we need to be able to alter the genetic factor which impedes total replacement of everything that is old with new efficient cells. So far that is impossible, so what we can do is boost and strengthen the physiological mechanisms that keeps the skin youthful. Creams are used, substances are injected to increase moisture levels, vitamins, amino acids, antioxidants to boost the structures to repair themselves.

The key to keep the skin beautiful is to keep the protective layer acid, with rapid turnover, reconstruct the damaged collagen and elastin proteins through heat stimulation ( either by Laser or Radiofrequency), micro needling that causes a controlled insult to the dermis enabling it to recover with new fresh skin, delivering directly active ingredients that support the cell turnover. This substances that creams claim cannot penetrate the epidermis so need direct delivery through needling, mesotherapy and electroporation.

Microdermabrasion

MDA is a non-invasive, non-surgical technique to revitalise and rejuvenate the skin, improves the skin damage by photo-aging ( fine lines, hyperpigmentation), mild scars and stretch marks. It is closed cycle abrasive system, suing vacuum, which used the physical action of inert aluminium oxide crystals projected onto the skin by a compressed air system. This crystals transfer their kinetic energy to the cells on the first layers of the epidermis, removing the sebum and corneocytes. Varying degrees of exfoliation are obtained by altering the vacuum pressure, crystal speed, particle size, the impact angle, number of passages and the hand piece movement speed, giving the practitioner the ability to achieve precise results.

Contraindications: Cheloid scars, herpes simplex in the active phase, pustulous acne, facial surgery in the 2 months prior to the treatment.

Side effects: slight erythema, stinging during the treatment.

Diathermy- Radiofrequency and Needling

Diathermy using radiofrequency applies its properties by means of increasing the temperature in deep zones of the tissue. The heat is induced by passing an alterning current by Joule effect, the high frequency alterning current causes firming of the connective tissue. The effects produced on collagen by this technology are mainly induced by the heat that develops from the flow of the current that passes through the biological tissues , due to the resistance that is developed on the water molecules. The amount of heat depends on the current density, the accumulated heat causes a break of the bonds inside the collagen fibres leading to a reorganisation and contraction of the fibre. The micro needling further insults the dermis leading to a rejuvenation process ideal for fine lines, skin brightness, mild scars, pigmentation. The various sizes of the micro needles enables the different protocols and results, from just a refreshed looking skin to a proper resurfacing to address lines and scars.

Contraindications: Pregnancy and breastfeeding, neoplasia, treatment with anticoagulants, auto-immune disorders, wearers of pacemakers and metal plates in the zone being treated.

Side effects: oedema, erythema

Electroporation

Electroporation is a technique involving the local application of short and intense electric impulses, which reversibly render the cellular membranes permeable, creating electro pores aiding the penetration of active principles into the cells, boosting the effect of the substances in just those tissues that are exposed to the impulses. The delivery of mesotherapic cocktails that deep nourish and replenish the skin increases the cell turnover and a rejuvenated looking skin with no side effects.

The Vacuum supports all the above technologies, based on a mechanical suction system that creates a tissue massage with numerous properties. It increases the blood flow and oxygenation of the tissue, increases the healing and recovery and delivers specifically the treatments to the treated area.

Combination Of Technologies And Time Duration Of The Treatments

• Microdermabrasion with low level laser for a refreshed looking skin, followed by a facial massage to relax the skin, it takes approx. 35 min and it is suitable for all skin types and concerns.

• Microdermabrasion followed by monopolar radiofrequency with electroporation for skin tightening and firming, duration of treatment 45 min.

• Microdermabrasion followed by RF and micro needling finished by mesotherapic cocktails for a true anti-ageing treatment responsible to reverse the visible signs of ageing, such as fine lines and wrinkles, sun spots, skin laxity, acne scars. Duration of the treatment 60 min.

• Microdermabrasion followed by a chemical peel to resurface the skin, brighten and firm. Duration 40 min. The microdermabrasion exposes the skin and therefor the peel penetrates deeper.

• Microdermabrasion followed by laser rejuvenation, an extremely effective combination to enhance skin elasticity, brightness and stimulate the collagen fibres.

Other Treatment Applications

Scars

Scars are areas of fibrous tissue ( fibrosis) that replace normal skin after injury. It results from the biological process of wound repair in the skin and other tissues on the body, scaring is a natural part of the healing process. Scar tissue is the same protein –collagen as the tissue it replaces but the fiber composition is different, and this scar tissue has less functional quality. Less resistant to ultraviolet radiation, sweat glands and hair follicules do not grow back within the scar tissue.

Two of the most common types are hypertrophic and keloid scarring, which have excessive stiff collagen growth over the tissue blocking the regeneration of tissues. Another form is atrophic –sunken scarring, in this case the collagen bundles do not over extend tissue. The only way to stimulate a compromised tissue is by in a controlled protocol restart a healing process, either through a non-invasive treatment with Laser and radio frequency to stimulate the collagen fibres to further support the skin or through a direct approach with deep microdermabrasion and micro needling.

Mesotherm treats scars effectively except keloids.

Program: minimum of 8 session every 2 weeks, depending on the severity of the scar.

• Deep Microdermabrasion ( 20 min), followed by Monopolar RF ( 10min) alternating with needling with vitamin C and collagen repair cocktail ( 20 min).

• Complementary treatments- Laser rejuvenation for bio stimulation.

• Homecare: Sunblock SPF50, Rose E twice daily.

Stretch Marks

Changes on the body, such as quick growth or weight gain, can overstretch the tissue under the skin and tear it, resulting in stretch marks. SM may also be influenced by hormonal changes associated with puberty, pregnancy, and muscle building, hormonal replacement therapy. Red SM are newer ones and white are older ones. It can appear anywhere on the body, but more likely to appear where larger amounts of fat are stored. Whenever a stretch mark develops the tissue is compromised, so there is a need to further stimulate it for a healing process to develop and recover the tissue, new skin will develop, firmer and tighter. Program: 10 weeks protocol.

• First 4 sessions: Deep Microdermabrasion ( 20 min), followed by Monopolar RF ( 10min), followed by electroporation with Neo Tone and Radio frequency for 10 min.

• Remaining 6 session: Mild Microdermabrasion ( 10min) followed by micro needling with radio frequency.

Homecare: Sunblock SPF50 if the treated area is exposed to the sun.

Mild Alopecia

Alopecia refers to hair loss in areas that normally have hair. There are two form of Alopecia: scarring and non-scarring. Scarring is the loss of hair follicles, this form causes permanent hair loss. In the case of non-scarring the hair shaft is gone, but the follicles are still present. It often is reversible, it can also develop into the scarring type. Non-scarring types include:

• Androgenetic( hereditary) alopecia

• Telogen affluvium

• Alopecia areata ias an autoimmune process, the cause is unknown.

Mesotherm develops proper protocols to treat non-scarring type of alopecia.

Protocol: 10 weeks protocol, every week. The number of sessions is established depending on the severity of the problem.

• 10 sessions of very mild microdermabrasion ( 3 to 10min), followed by electroporation with Hair System for 10 min that delivers active ingredients that stimulate the dormant follicles.

Complementary treatments: Needling, local mesotherapy.
Homecare: Neo Hair Vials, one vial every day.

Is The Treatment Painful?

The microdermabrasion and micro needling can be mildly unpleasant, a topical anaesthetic can be applied 30 min prior to the treatment. The radiofrequency and mesotherapy feels like a hot face massage, very relaxing and soothing.

What Is The Skins Appearance Immediately After The Treatment And What After Care Is Necessary?
Occasionally the treatment results in a mild redness which may last a few hours. Slight skin sensitivity may also occur. Mesotherm offers progressive results without any side effects or particularly unpleasant sensations. The aftercare includes a complete homecare regime to increase moisture levels, and the use of a zinc oxide SPF30.
How Many Treatments Are Required For Substantial Results?
Age and skin condition will determine the number of treatments required to achieve the maximum effect. For most common skin conditions a minimum of 4 treatments is usually required. The results are evident from both the skin texture and its appearance after the very first session regardless of the protocol chosen.
